A Very Merry Aerie Holiday

A few of you may remember that Aerie sent me their Holiday collection two years ago for a special post (and if you've been reading PLU that long and we don't personally know each other, then bless your heart and a million thanks for sticking with me!). They threw their holiday blogger party at their SoHo location last week, and I went to check out the funtivities with Jill (sidebar: Jill's a new PLU writer you'll be meeting soon!).

As expected: super cute, so festive and the prices were right. Nearly everything (panties excluded) was buy one, get one 50% off, making all the loungewear and pajamas perfect candidates for gifting. There was a hot chocolate bar, complete with marshmallows and peppermint to make 'em pretty, plus crafty blogger I Spy DIY to help everyone bedazzle their beanies. And of course, Aerie stylist and fitter Jenny Altman was there to help the ladies who had never been fitted before.

So let's take a second to talk about this awesome tote that'll be part of their Black Friday promotions: it. is. huge. Like, great for a weekend away or a beach trip huge. Perfect to haul home all my Christmas gifts for my family huge. So if you're brave enough to go shopping on Black Friday, be sure to stop by Aerie to get yours. The fabulous goodies that the event team included for us are so adorable—look for another blog post soon about those (yes, they warrant another post).

Balances & Paradoxes

Let's go light this Wednesday. Mostly since it's the middle of a crawling week, and I think we could all use a little pick-me-up, right?

Case in point: Agent Provocateur's Yoshie set. The floral embroidery on this sheer set could make it super-feminine, but brushes of black balance out the blush, and there's a hint of badass-ery (I'm sure someone on my team will be so disappointed in me for using that word) from the black criss-cross in front and back. This, my friends, is thoughtful, functional and balanced design. I'm not one for too many frills, but that small element of the black X is what drew me to this one.

Happy Hump Day xx

[Sponsored] The New Basics, True Originals

Maybe I'm just feeling spoiled by the four-day work week I had last week, but it's only Wednesday and I'm already thinking of how I can make my weekend revolve around cozy, comfy loungewear instead of dressing up to go out. Maybe it's because the weather has finally taken a turn for true fall. Lucky for me, the fab team at True&Co. let me choose a bunch of things from their own True Originals collections to try out for myself.

Y'all know I love a good bralette and I've been gravitating towards softcup/underwire bras lately, so obviously those were going to be a few of my choices. But of course, my love for softcup bras doesn't exactly mix with my love for white t-shirts, so I picked out a padded contour bra, and the coup de grace: JERSEY LOUNGE PANTS. WITH POCKETS. YESSSSSS. From their two True Originals  lines, the majority of the products I chose were from Uniform by True&Co., and I picked one pretty black bra (of course in black, but with the prettiest cutout details that keeps it from being just another black bra) from their more romantic collection, She Walks in Beauty (+Light).

I love the soft grey and pink shades — they're just feminine enough without teetering over into prissy. I've always liked the idea of grey lingerie. Not heather grey, but like a soft elephant grey with warm tints. This bralette and softcup underwire get just there.

And the grey jersey pants: they're purrrfect, buttery-soft jersey. I don't think I'll be able to get away wearing them to work, but worn with an oversized sweater (make sure to cover your bum) and some sick combat-like boots, I think it could work for a Saturday brunch. Maybe that's what I'll try this weekend.
