Spring 2015 Goals

NYFW is over, but that just means the show circuit has just begun. I snuck in some time this weekend in between working on projects to speed through most of the New York shows, but the one that made me go back and look at three more times was unexpected.

Tomas Maier.

Huh? I mean, makes total sense because I love the aesthetic of Bottega Veneta, but I honestly didn't think that his namesake collection would be the one that made me really want anything. I usually just flip through the slideshows to get a sense of what the upcoming trends will be (not that I can really tell these days, since everything either looks exactly the same or totally different and it seems like anything goes), but I never truly want what I'm looking at.

Yet this collection is the one that is now making me anxiously waiting for next Spring and Summer to come, just when I was getting super-pumped about layers and cozy sweaters. I even took two pairs of boots to the cobbler to get freshened up for the cooler temps.

So, goals for 2015:
- exercise and tone up my arms for all these cute little bodysuits, and tone up my core for dresses with sheer midriff panels
- win the lottery so I can buy these looks and go on a fancy vacay worthy of them

I'll keep you posted on how I do.

So, voilĂ —my favorite looks from the collection. What do you think?

ARI DEIN Fall/Winter 2012 NYFW Presentation

I had the pleasure of attending ARI DEIN's Fall/Wintter 2012 presentation for NYFW last night at Cellar Bar (Bryant Park Hotel), and it was pretty amazing. The location couldn't have been more perfect—Cellar Bar has a really dramatic medieval-esque design to it, and combine that with mood lighting and a LIVE opera singer? Well, as my boyfriend so astutely summarized, "It's kind of like that scene in Taken."

Great movie, but definitely no virgin trafficking going on here. Just an incredibly expanded offering of Ari's classic silk pieces. There's new bralette designs, reworked robes and ready-to-wear! Including a bodysuit! There's some new cuts and details for F/W '12 but the feeling of contemporary luxury is still there. It's classic without being stuffy, yet still appeals to all age ranges. It's magic.

P.S. Boyfriend, I want a set of those pajamas. Or the printed top on the second photo, on the second model from the right. Kthxbye.

Underthings Exposed at NYFW: rag & bone S/S 2011

rag and bone's RTW collection seen on the runway during NYFW for S/S 2011 shows off their favorite pretty little underthings, and lots of 'em! These are some of my favorites:

Underthings Exposed at NYFW: Street Style

Whoa, check out this chick who let it all peek through! Not quite sure who she is with the shades on—I suspect a model—but that draped leather jacket is pretty perfect too.

Spotted at NYFW: Bras as Outerwear!

Looks like the innerwear as outerwear trend will continue for at least another season, judging from these TwitPic shots. Refinery29 showed the Twitterverse these photos from the runways these past couple of days. I'm excited for next spring!

At Araks: "Pretty sheer dresses at Araks... modern twist on Dutch traditional pinafores."

At Y-3: "Rock out with your bra out at Y-3."
