Tempting Tuesdays: Only Hearts Whisper Racerback Bralette & Ruched Boyshorts

Tuesdays will feature a lustworthy lingerie set and a suggested retailer. I think we all need a little something beautiful to at least look at to get us through the week. Hope you love them as much as I do!

Whisper Racerback Bralette and Ruched Boyshort by Only Hearts
If Maison Close's mesh collections are too intense and just not your style, try this delicate bralette and boyshort set from Only Hearts. I love Only Hearts' mesh pieces because they can make you feel so sensual without sacrificing comfort.

This gorgeous bralette has some lace touches to keep the racerback straps from being too athletic, and the boyshorts have an adorable ruching detail in the back. The racerback style is pretty popular this season, with so many designers producing pretty bras with the detail, so at least try it on and see how different it feels!

Guest Blogger Wishlist: Erica Paik's Top Five Picks!

Erica is one of my best friends—we've known each other since 5th grade and we've seen our styles evolve over the years, but she's still one of the most stylish ladies I know. Here's her top 5 wishlist picks for this holiday season!

Sometimes all you want is something sparkly during the holidays. Leading to the first item on my wishlist.

1. Cartier Trinity Star Ring
I love stars. Add diamonds and the iconic trinity band and this is a ring I probably wouldn’t take off that often. What would go well with this ring? Oh right.

2. Araks Elena Bralette Sea and Lia Panty Sea
How sexy, futuristic fun is this? Maybe I’ve seen one too many Tron: Legacy ads, but I can imagine this under their suits, if one could wear anything under those suits. Where would I zoom off to in this cute set?

3. A Trip to Korea
Korea-Pojangmacha-01
I blame Korean dramas for this one, but I really would love to go to Korea with a bunch of girlfriends, eat at a pojangmacha (sidebar: a kind of roadside food cart that sells all those delicious, yet so bad for you food that pairs perfectly with soju/beer. For more info go here), have a drink or three, and basically have a two month vacation from life. I’d need something comfy for those long days of lounging.

4. Steven Alan Holiday Jenna Romper
In my perfect (dream) apartment, you would find me reading in front of a blazing fire in this adorable romper. Doesn’t it evoke images of winter, scrunchy ski socks bunched down, and hot cocoa? But in the real world, oh wait this is a Christmas wishlist, so for my final wish I wish for...

5. La Perla New Venus Balconette Bra and Lace-Trimmed Short Briefs
Champagne and pearls please! That’s what I thought of when I first saw this set. Oh wait, I would be wearing the Cartier ring... luckily pearls go with everything, right? Love, love, love the details and in the end isn’t that what life is all about—the details.

xoxo, e

Intimate Interview: Arin Robinson & Jessie Zinke of Zinke Design

Arin Robinson (L) and Jessie Zinke (R), Sisters & founders of Zinke Intimates

I got to meet Arin & Jessie of Zinke Intimates back in September at Journelle's Fashion's Night Out event. It was the first time I had seen their collection in person, and I was stunned by how gorgeous their pieces were. I'm a huge fan of bralettes in general (if you haven't figured that out by now), and theirs are definitely at the top of my list of favorites. Their pieces are sexy and playful at the same time, and the colors they choose for their collections speak to me on so many different emotional levels. Whatever mood you find yourself in, Zinke has a bra for that.

They generously answered a few questions I had about their beautiful collection, working together as sisters & what inspired some of their pieces.

(P.S. In case you're planning on doing some holiday shopping (or just putting together your own holiday wishlist) over the Thanksgiving holiday, check out the list of suggested retailers at the bottom of this post!)

Pretty Little Underthings: What’s it like to work together as sisters and live different cities?

Zinke Intimates: Anyone that has a sister can probably relate to the fact that nobody knows you better than your sister. We can read each other’s minds, get away with saying things others wouldn’t dare and we’re super protective of each other. Now with the distance we communicate more via iChat than over lunch, but our strong connection has remained the same.

PLU: What is the most rewarding moment of the design/production process?
Zinke: Hearing feedback from buyers!

Once Upon a Midnight jumper, Zinke Holiday Collection

PLU: What are some of the challenges you’ve had to overcome to make this line happen?

Zinke: We debuted Zinke when the economy had reached a significant low, which made marketing especially difficult. We have a great appreciation for the importance of each piece being marketable to retailers.

PLU: What has inspired your past collections? What inspired the holiday collection?

Zinke: Color has been a major player in our past collections (Electric Girl Collection & Summer 2010).  The holiday collection is really an extension of our fall ‘10 Love Letters collection. The color palate is smoldering & romantic – a little more subdued than the past collections.  Edgar Allan Poe’s darkly romantic work is where we sought inspiration for the Love Letters collection.

Evening Star tee & Evening Star shorts, Zinke Holiday Collection

PLU: What are your favorite pieces from the holiday collection?

Zinke: I adore the Once Upon a Midnight Jumper in amethyst, but I reach for my Dream within a Dream Robe daily.

PLU: If you could do a collaboration with any retailer/designer, who would it be?

Zinke: Designers: Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen for The Row, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, and Giles Mendel for J. Mendel top our list. We would also love to collaborate with a retailer that has a broader market, like Target. Everyone should experience daily luxury, we think through a Zinke bralet.

PLU: What advice would you give to other aspiring designers?

Zinke: Be persistent, it will pay off!

Tempting Tuesdays: Maison Close Bel-Ami Corset Bra & Girdle Thong

Tuesdays will feature a lustworthy lingerie set and a suggested retailer. I think we all need a little something beautiful to at least look at to get us through the week. Hope you love them as much as I do!

Maison Close Bel-Ami Corset Bra & Girdle Thong
Um, hellooo sexy! This incredible pair from Maison Close is a bit out of even my own comfort range, but it's chilly in NYC and this set is jaw-droppingly hot. Delicate mesh with boning that follows your body's shape and accentuates it in the right places (and adjustable elastic that goes around mid-thigh), this might be the one set your special someone won't want you to take off.

Corset bra, $72. Girdle thong, $66. Available at Journelle.com
Also available at Azaleas NYC for a little bit less: Corset bra, $65. Girdle thong, $60.

Color Stories: Going Green

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I was thinking about what I should post this week and realized I haven't done a color story in awhile, so I'm gonna go green today.

Green is an interesting color for lingerie, I think. Most retailers have the standard white, black, pink, red, black, flesh tones, purples... but green is pretty rare. Sometimes the styles are terrible or the hues are awful, but I found a few sets that will make you say "wow!" for different reasons.

1. Olive and Eve set by Amulette: Delicate, lacey swirls in a comforting moss green, and the straps have tiny little flutter sleeves! Pick this one up to feel like a sweet goddess.
Bralette, $78 and briefs, $68. Available at Anthropologie.com.

2. Spree Lace Bra and Briefs by Elle Macpherson: this is the standard Elle bra that comes in different colors. It's comfortable, basic and an everyday staple! Paired with the briefs, it can transform into special set for a late-night rendez-vous.
Spree Lace Bra, $62 and briefs, $30. Available at Net-a-Porter.com.

3. Malizia Sirena Demi Bra and Bikini Briefs by La Perla: The queen of haute lingerie, La Perla never disappoints with super sexy cuts that are also comfy. The extra scallop trim on the sides of the bikini transform an otherwise ordinary bottom into a piece that will make you feel like a mermaid!
Sirena Demi Bra, $109 and briefs, $59. Available at LaPerla.com.

4. Delirious Triangle Bralette and French Briefs by Eberjey: Basic, flirty and comes in every color (well, almost). Perfect for lounging around in on the weekend when you don't want to leave your home, at least I think so! (Note: The real color is closer to the yellowish-green on the briefs. The photo on journelle is a bit wonky, I think).
Triangle bra, $38 and French briefs, $30. Available at Journelle.com.

SALE: Bisou Bisou Rouge Super Plunge Bra by Mimi Holliday

Oh, hello. Didn't see you there. I was too busy staring at this beautiful, delicate Mimi Holliday bra and trying to decide if I have a stance on red lingerie. Turns out, I don't. Red or not, I love the lace detailing and the way the bottom scallops would rest against the body. And let's be serious, I look good in red. I just don't wear it that often. Guess I'll have to change that!

Bisou Bisou Rouge Super Plunge Bra, $98 (sale $68.60). Available at Journelle.com.

Bump Your Boxers and Upgrade Your Shorts!

Confession: I used to be a big fan of boxer shorts as loungewear. Like, you know, the cute ones from places like American Eagle that are cut for girls and have fun prints on them. They were pretty much a sorority/college staple, and I probably still have a pair stashed somewhere.

But let's face it: college days are way long gone and it's time to grow up. Tons of loungewear designers are coming out with adorable shorties that are just as comfy as they are sexy, and you won't even give your boy boxers a second thought. Here are a few that really love:

1. Classic Collection Short by Brulee: luxe, soft jersey with a gorgeous gold button detailing. The cut of the shorts elongates the legs and a stretchy waistband keeps it comfy. What's not to love?
Classic Collection Shorts, $56. Available at Brulee.net, also comes in cream.

2. Better in Sweater Shorts by Trovata: fitted knit cotton with a tiny patch pocket on the right rear. The pink belt adds a touch of sweetness, though you'll probably want to remove it if you sleep in 'em.
Sweater Shorts, $48. Available at Anthropologie.com.

3. Talia Track Shorts by Fleur't: Super-soft, semi-sheer rayon/spandex blend with satin details to keep things comfy and feminine.
Track Shorts, $58. Available at Shopbop.com.

4. Silk Contrast Tap Shorts by La Fee Verte: stretchy silk comes in a gorgeous cream/black contrast design to keep things interesting. I'd say these are definitely meant for a special night in with your man, or when you've had a long, stressful day and need a pick-me-up when you come home. At this price, you might want to indulge yourself with both colors options!
Tap Shorts, $35. Available at Journelle.com. Also comes in black with cream trim.

Fashion's Night Out at Journelle!

I stopped by Journelle on Friday night for Fashion's Night Out and I just have to say, "WOW." I got to see the designs of ARI DEIN, Zinke Intimates, and Brulee Lingerie and their pieces are absolutely stunning in person.

My favorites:
Zinke's Wanderlust Bralet and Panty (top left in amethyst) and Poe Bralet and Panty (bottom left in black)

Brulee's Classic Collection Soft Bra in jersey trimmed in silk satin

and the Boyfriend Nightshirt!
ARI DEIN's luxurious collection had the most intricate detail and I fell in love with the Petit Mort high-waisted knickers with an incredible button down side. At $255 a pop, I guess I'd better somehow become un-single so a special someone can buy them for me!

I would die for Boxwood Floral Demi Robe too. It has a beautiful print, an adorable hood and I'd just want to lounge around my apartment all weekend in it.

Her Boutique Hotel Chemise in Peacock is going to be worn by Blair on Gossip Girl in an upcoming episode, so be on the lookout for that!

Seeing her collection in person was very special and lovely to see such a high level of quality from such a young designer. I'm hopefully going to be doing a little interview with her soon as well, I can't wait!

Color Stories: Noble Navy

I feel as though black, nude, white and pink bras are ubiquitous, but navy bras are few and far between. There's something noble about navy and I love how it can be classy and seductive at the same time. Some navy bras I love:
1. Malawi Demi Bra by Jenna Leigh
Available at Gigi's Closet, $69.79.

2. Nina Demi-Cup Bra by Simone Perele
Available at Journelle.com, $89.

3. Intemporels Balconett Bra by Vannina Vesperini
Available at FaireFrouFrou.com, $110.40 (on sale).

Fashion's Night Out NYC!

Tempting Tuesdays: Araks Elena & Lia Set

Allure Cover Girl Kim Kardashian Wears Jenna Leigh

So by now, we all know that Kim Kardashian wore Jenna Leigh's Elle Balconette bra on the the cover of Allure September 2010. I love that bra and remember trying one on at Journelle back in the spring, but there was only one and unfortunately not my size. Also, the Elle is from one of Jenna's past collections, so it's pretty much sold out at most retailers who carried it.

Lucky for you guys (and me!), I have some super-duper Googling skills and found it online! And in stock! Gigi's Closet had some key sizes in stock (and still do), and for $94.39, which is less than the $118 retail price. Shipping to New York was free via Amazon.com ground shipping, and no tax. It's win-win-win for everyone, so make sure you nab yours ASAP!

All Hail the A-Cups!

I really loved this article in the New York Times today: "For the A-Cup Crowd, Minimal Assets Are a Plus".
I have to admit that I laughed out loud when I read these paragraphs about soft bras:
"Exquisitely designed soft bras with no underwire appeal to this camp for gorgeous details and 'nipple discretion,' as it’s called in the industry, said Susannah Hornsby, an expert bra-fitter at Journelle, a boutique in New York.
In fact, soft bras have come such a long way from their training-bra lineage that Claire Chambers, the chief executive of Journelle, says her saleswomen, most of whom are 32D, regret that they cannot fit into all the crush-worthy fashion pieces from brands like The Lake & Stars. Really."
I suppose that now since lingerie has become a fashion statement, especially for the small-chested women, the beautiful bralettes and soft bras we can wear are seriously envy-worthy. Woohoo!
P.S. Congratulations to Brulee for the Vamp Collection Corset soft bra that was featured in the story!
