The Celebration Continues: Jenna Leigh Lingerie

J'adore this board featuring the Jenna Leigh Malawi set by soon-to-be-wed friend Thayer. She has gorgeous taste—very classic with a contemporary twist that looks like she should be in magazine. Oh, and her engagement ring is incredible.

First Date with My New Husband

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!

PRETTY LITTLE UNDERTHINGS.COM IS 1 YEAR OLD! Yippee! I'll be honest, I can't believe a whole year has already passed by, nor can I believe I'm still posting to this blog. It feels really special to have created something that so many people appreciate and love, and I'm really thankful to everyone who has supported me from the beginning through now, and hopefully will continue in the future.

So to help me celebrate, I asked a few of my amazing friends who all have very different personal styles to create their own look that incorporates their favorite lingerie of the moment. This first look is by my fantastic friend Janet, featuring the Jenna Leigh Kyoto Set. I laughed out loud when I saw this because really—this is EXACTLY her style. Thanks love! Keep an eye out for more sets to come.

Intimate Interview: Jenna Leigh of Jenna Leigh Lingerie & A Giveaway!

Summer officially starts tomorrow! How many weddings are you going to this season? Luckily I don't have as many to go to as some other people I know (haha, sorry friends!) but there are some super-gorgeous bridal lingerie options from Jenna Leigh Lingerie if you're in a squeeze.

Jenna is getting married herself this fall, so to help her celebrate, we did a lil' interview and she's giving away the super-fun Flamingo button-front romper to a lucky Pretty Little Underthings reader! It's feels a bit odd to have another giveaway so soon, but I love Jenna Leigh's line (a few of her bras are in my regular rotation, shhh) and I'm really pumped for this giveaway!

Giveaway details are below after the interview, so read on about Jenna and what inspires her, and find out how to enter.
Flamingo Button-Front Romper. P.S. you could win this!!

Pretty Little Underthings: What inspired you to start an intimates line instead of say, ready-to-wear?
Jenna Leigh: I started this line because I felt there was a missing void in the marketplace for fashionable lingerie. There are many, many ready to wear brands constantly coming out each season. Lingerie is still considered a rare specialty item in the states.

PLU: Who is the Jenna Leigh woman? What do you think are some of her personality traits that would prompt her to choose Jenna Leigh instead of another line?
JL: The Jenna Leigh woman loves to look sexy but never over the top. She likes subtle sexiness & elegance. She can be casual but wants that extra little something to turn up the heat. She’s beautiful, confident, and loves fashion!

(r) Tremblant Set; (l) Malawi Set

PLU: What inspirations have you drawn for your collections from living in London, New York, and Miami?
JL: Living in London inspired me in every sense to create this lingerie line. Europeans are excited by undergarments and lingerie as a second wardrobe. Miami and New York—and all of my travels for that matter—have inspired me by their fashion cultures. New York is the fashion center of the world, alongside Paris. Living in this fabulous city, I have been able to get a sense of every fashion trend, brand, color, and style. It helps me every day, just to see the excitement on the streets in terms of fashion. I learn new things from simply sitting at a café and people watching!

PLU: I feel like each season gets better and better—the Kyoto set was one of my favorites. It looked like what Céline's intimates line would look like! How do RTW designers inspire you?
JL: RTW designers are a huge inspiration for me. I constantly follow their trends from season to season. My famous “Malawi” bra was inspired by cut-out/key hole looks on the runway and magazines. When army green was huge, I created army green lingerie. I just continue to follow amazing fashion tips & trends from top RTW designers, and then I use my own fashion sense of lingerie to merge them together.

PLU: The Jenna Leigh pieces I have are so beautiful and wouldn’t normally be seen as everyday wear, but for me, getting to wear something gorgeous every day makes me feel happier. Do you think there should be a distinction between “everyday lingerie” and “special occasion”?
JL: I think there is always a need to hold a special occasion piece to the side, which will make you feel fantastic when you put it on, for either your wedding night, a special date, your birthday, anything! That being said, everyday is an occasion to feel happier like you mentioned. I truly believe that when you wear beautiful clothes, lingerie, shoes, the whole nine yards—you are in a better mood and feel more “confident”. Every woman out there should try wearing a beautiful bra on a random day to work and see how pretty they feel!

(r) Namos Set; (l) Laos Set

PLU: Speaking of special occasions, you’re getting married soon! Are there any specific pieces from your own collection you would recommend to other brides-to-be?
JL: Yes! Each season I launch a new bridal set. “Elle” was my first bridal set and is still a best seller for my brand. Spring/Summer 2011, we launched “Laos” which has beautiful sewn detail, padding, lace, and silk-really perfect for any bride. I also love the idea of brides daring to be different with a hint of color. Wedding gowns are so thick, nothing will show through!

PLU: Is there anything new and exciting we should look out for coming to Jenna Leigh Lingerie?
JL: Yes there is! Jenna Leigh is expanding our collection to double in size. For Spring 2012, we will have many more groups available, multiple color-ways, and we are going up to double D cups! No reason why more voluptuous women can’t wear sexy, beautiful lingerie too!

Say Hi to Thursday: Weekend Gorgeous in Jenna Leigh Neutrals

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Kyoto Soft Cup Demi Bra & Hipster by Jenna Leigh
I think a common misconception about my blog is that I own every single item I post, which is not possible (yet) but I do like to make it clear when I actually own a set I post (or have at least tried it on). So here's the truth about this gorgeous Jenna Leigh set: IT'S MINE!

I tried on the bodysuit version of this a couple of months ago and almost cried (not really but I was sad) because the cup size was too big for my A's, much like the Key Lime set I tried on at Anthropologie. But then fate intervened: a bit of cash I had set aside for something special, a 30% off coupon from Journelle AND they had this set in stock... in my size. A quick phone call with Susannah (who is amazing!) to double check sizing and it was in my shopping cart mere minutes later.

What you can't see from the site is this really simple detail in the back of the bra:
I know what you're thinking, "Umm... it just looks like two extra bra straps on either side to make the back clasp." No. It's not. Well, yea, ok it is, BUT you have to take my word for it when I say that it adds just a liiiittle something extra sexy when you're wearing it. The entire bra is so simple and neutral, that this extra detail makes it that much more special.

Oh, and check out this other detail: the back of the closure is PADDED!
I don't know if you can tell from that photo that it's a little bit squishy, but really—it's a little detail that I never knew I wanted in a bra.

Oh, and the bottoms? Let's just say that they'll make your fanny look AWESOME. The little strappy cutout detail on the back of the waistband add a little bit of contouring. Who knew briefs could actually be kinda hot?

Soft-cup demi bra, $100. Hipster, $76. Available at Journelle.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: Key Lime Set by Jenna Leigh

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Key Lime Set by Jenna Leigh
I'M TIRED OF WINTER ALREADY. I just want sweet sunshine and warm weather again. But it's only January, so I know I'll have to be patient. Luckily, Jenna Leigh made this super-cute, super-sunny set for Anthropologie and it'll have to hold us over until we get some real sunshine again.

Sizing note: a small may not fit properly in the bust if you're an A. Larger A's/Small B's might have some luck, but none for smaller than that, sadly. I love long-line bralettes so I was a little sad when it didn't fit right in the cups, though my bank account cried for joy. (Yes, I tried it on—I couldn't help it. It was just sitting there, looking so bright and cheery! Don't judge. You would've done it too.)

Favorite Things: Jenna Leigh Lingerie Bras Back in Stock!

If you've at least browsed through some of my older posts, you'll know that I absolutely adore Jenna Leigh Lingerie's collections. Two bras in particular that I've loved since she launched her line are the Malawi Demi Bra and the Elle Balconette Bra (yes, the one Kim Kardashian wore on the cover of Allure!).

They've both been sold out for awhile, but it looks like they're back in stock online! So if you've been bummed out that you couldn't get your hands on these bras, definitely look for your size on their site and let someone know what you want for the holidays!

Elle Balconette bra in ivory, $118. Malawi Demi bra in midnight, $85. Available at Jenna Leigh Lingerie.

Hump Day Pick: Croatia Gown by Jenna Leigh Lingerie

Bring a hint of springtime into your fall/winter to cheer yourself up from this cold weather! Jenna Leigh's fall collection is slowly rolling out, and this nightgown immediately caught my eye. I'm not a nightgown type of gal, but for this watercolor-inspired silk number, I definitely could be.

Nightgown, $250. Available at Jenna Leigh Lingerie.

Tempting Tuesdays: Pull-the-Blinds Set by Jenna Leigh for Anthropologie

Tuesdays will feature a lustworthy lingerie set and a suggested retailer. I think we all need a little something beautiful to at least look at to get us through the week. Hope you love them as much as I do!

Love this set from Jenna Leigh's collaboration with Anthropologie. It has underwire for support yet the sheer mesh of the cups is so sultry!

Color Stories: Noble Navy

I feel as though black, nude, white and pink bras are ubiquitous, but navy bras are few and far between. There's something noble about navy and I love how it can be classy and seductive at the same time. Some navy bras I love:
1. Malawi Demi Bra by Jenna Leigh
Available at Gigi's Closet, $69.79.

2. Nina Demi-Cup Bra by Simone Perele
Available at Journelle.com, $89.

3. Intemporels Balconett Bra by Vannina Vesperini
Available at FaireFrouFrou.com, $110.40 (on sale).

SALE: Jenna Leigh for Anthropologie

I was just browsing through Anthropologie's intimates on sale and noticed that one of Jenna Leigh's Smokeblossom set is on sale! I especially love the little ruffle details on the bottoms. Don't you think the soft colors are just perfect for fall?

Bra (sale $59.95, reg $98), bottoms (sale $49.95, reg $78) available at Anthropologie.com.

Allure Cover Girl Kim Kardashian Wears Jenna Leigh

So by now, we all know that Kim Kardashian wore Jenna Leigh's Elle Balconette bra on the the cover of Allure September 2010. I love that bra and remember trying one on at Journelle back in the spring, but there was only one and unfortunately not my size. Also, the Elle is from one of Jenna's past collections, so it's pretty much sold out at most retailers who carried it.

Lucky for you guys (and me!), I have some super-duper Googling skills and found it online! And in stock! Gigi's Closet had some key sizes in stock (and still do), and for $94.39, which is less than the $118 retail price. Shipping to New York was free via Amazon.com ground shipping, and no tax. It's win-win-win for everyone, so make sure you nab yours ASAP!
