Say Hi to Thursday: Adorable, Affordable Swimwear from Aerie!

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Aerie by American Eagle Swimwear

I can't remember why or how I ended up on American Eagle's website a few days ago, but I was really surprised and excited about Aerie's new swimwear collection! I'm going to L.A. next week for a long weekend (thank goodness for a vacation) so beachy things are all I really can think about. These were three of my favorites:

1. Geometric Print Bandeau Bikini
Ya'll know I love prints, so I'm sure it's not a surprise that this one would be at the top of my list. I've been really drawn to funkier, abstract prints lately, and this bikini gives me exactly what I want. ...Yeah, I may really have to get this one.

2. Seashell String Bikini
Adorable, right?! I love the sketched, drawn quality of the print. Like, if there were photos of shells on the swimsuit, then... that might just look really creepy. But it's not! It's so cute! And the lighter color way will look SO good when you have a tan. (Note: always wear sunblock! Always!!)

3. Seersucker Halter Bikini
Classic seersucker for your for east coast beach getaways like Fire Island, Cape Cod, Newport... this is your swimsuit, preppies! I always love red seersucker the best (there's a blue option too), and as long as you don't get sunburnt, it'll be a fun, sweet option rather than those crazy swimsuits I've been seeing this season with so much metallic hardware!

Halter bikini top, on sale $19.95 (reg. $29.50). Bikini bottom, $14.95 (reg. $24.50).

Say Hi to Thursday: Weekend Gorgeous in Jenna Leigh Neutrals

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Kyoto Soft Cup Demi Bra & Hipster by Jenna Leigh
I think a common misconception about my blog is that I own every single item I post, which is not possible (yet) but I do like to make it clear when I actually own a set I post (or have at least tried it on). So here's the truth about this gorgeous Jenna Leigh set: IT'S MINE!

I tried on the bodysuit version of this a couple of months ago and almost cried (not really but I was sad) because the cup size was too big for my A's, much like the Key Lime set I tried on at Anthropologie. But then fate intervened: a bit of cash I had set aside for something special, a 30% off coupon from Journelle AND they had this set in stock... in my size. A quick phone call with Susannah (who is amazing!) to double check sizing and it was in my shopping cart mere minutes later.

What you can't see from the site is this really simple detail in the back of the bra:
I know what you're thinking, "Umm... it just looks like two extra bra straps on either side to make the back clasp." No. It's not. Well, yea, ok it is, BUT you have to take my word for it when I say that it adds just a liiiittle something extra sexy when you're wearing it. The entire bra is so simple and neutral, that this extra detail makes it that much more special.

Oh, and check out this other detail: the back of the closure is PADDED!
I don't know if you can tell from that photo that it's a little bit squishy, but really—it's a little detail that I never knew I wanted in a bra.

Oh, and the bottoms? Let's just say that they'll make your fanny look AWESOME. The little strappy cutout detail on the back of the waistband add a little bit of contouring. Who knew briefs could actually be kinda hot?

Soft-cup demi bra, $100. Hipster, $76. Available at Journelle.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: A Little (or A Lotta) Rawr for the Weekend

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Marguerite Riding Bralette & Briefs by Stella McCartney

When I first saw this set a few months ago, I luuurrrved it. The bralette style softens the "wild child" stigma of animal print and keeps it from crossing the line into trashy territory (psh, please—as if Stella could ever create something trashy). The wide band keeps it comfy, but the fun leopard print has potential for your inner animal to emerge. Rawr.

Bralette, $90. Bikini, $45. Available at Faire Frou Frou.

Say Hi to Thursday: A Lovely Lacy Romper by Else Lingerie

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Lace Cup Silk Romper by Else Lingerie

So since the theme so far this week has been "lovely," I think this little lace-trimmed romper by Else Lingerie is the perfect, lovely little piece to showcase today. There's elastic at the waist to give you a lovely silhouette, and a deep-V back with criss-cross straps. And if you wanna get a little cheeky in the back, this romper is for you. The style says casual, but the silk demurely purrs, "luxe." Who are you to argue with voices that encourage loveliness?

Silk romper, $175. Available at Shop-Underwear.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: A Perfectly Striped Eberjey Set

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Eberjey Vintage Stripes Set

So, it's currently 1:30 am at the time of this writing, and I'll be honest—the temptation to just go to bed was so strong. But I decided to browse through one more lingerie boutique's site and... BAM. This Vintage Stripes set from Eberjey was just BEGGING me to be featured today. And I gave in, because it's so adorable.

I think stripes can be tricky. Not because of that ye olde "horizontal stripes make you look fat" nonsense, but because if they're not the correct proportions, they can look tacky and cheap. But Eberjey did stripes so, so right here. The slight ruffle trims make this just so pretty. And the BOW! Do you see the bow?! It's all just so... honest and casual and perfect for the weekend. That camisole would be perfect with white jeans or shorts too!

By the way, does this set make anyone else long for summertime?

Vintage stripes cami, $56. Vintage stripes knicker, $34. Available at Forty Winks.

Say Hi to Thursday: Say Hi to Spring with ARI DEIN!

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Andalou Camisole and Thong by ARI DEIN
Lust list item #1783: ARI DEIN's Andalou camisole in a new print for spring! This new "Mona Giardino Rosa" floral print is so classic and gosh darn pretty, it's hard to resist. The hook-and-eye closure is a subtly sexy detail (isn't it always?).

While you'll probably keep the thong under wraps, I'd definitely wear this camisole out with jeans (high-waisted and flared or skinnys will work equally as well), pretty platform wedge sandals, throw on a simple cardigan on top. Everyone will think it's just a pretty top, but guess what—TRICKED YOU! Innerwear as outerwear, amen.

Say Hi to Thursday: BTS Lingerie Well Played Cardigan & Yoga Pants

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Well Played Cardigan and Yoga Pants by Between The Sheets Lingerie
I have a confession to make: I'm totally addicted to the amazingly soft modal/lycra blend that BTS Lingerie uses for their loungewear. I have this cardigan in shade, thanks to Layla of BTS Lingerie (and yes, I posted it before), but I couldn't help but post it again, in this über-pretty champagne peachy pink. It's a perfect hue for spring, and it's such a soft, classy color. During the BTS Press Preview, Layla showed me this color and I kept going back to it. I think even my mom would like it! Right mom? I know you're reading this!

Anyway, I loved BTS' lovely yoga pants as well, with a foldover waistband to hide a bit of tummy if you have one. Since the cardigan hits right at the hipline in the back (though slightly longer in the front), these pants are perfect to with it since you can fold the waist a bit higher to avoid inadvertent butt cleavage. Gimme a simple tank top to wear under the cardi, and you've got my perfect weekend outfit to run errands in comfort and style!

Say Hi to Thursday: A Delicate Neutral Set from Araks

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Uma Bralett & Mirabella Hipster by Araks
Don't you just love this Araks set? The color is called "foundation", which is about right (for some people, anyway. I mean, if my foundation was this color then I'd be way too dark). But the sheer cotton crepe with silk trim is so Araks, so irresistible, especially when it comes with those delicate pleats in the center of the bralette and the tummy area of the bottoms. Ya'll can fight with me on high-waisted bottoms all you want—but I'm tellin' ya, they're a great motivator to tone up the abs. Just think Lara Stone in this editorial. Yeah. Just think about it.

Uma Bralett in foundation, sold out (nooooo!). Mirabella hipster in foundation, $110 (yay!). Available at Araks.

Say Hi to Thursday: Convexity Breaker Jersey Dress by VPL

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Convexity Breaker Jersey Dress by VPL
Dear Net-a-Porter,

I love you and your always impeccably selected intimates and loungewear collections (except for the pieces by a brand I will not name but likes to plaster their name on the rear of colorful terrycloth pants, though I will overlook that), and this dress by VPL is no exception.

This dress is so easy and flowy, and it's the perfect combo of VPL's signature bralette plus a maxi skirt to keep the rest of you left to the imagination.

So my request: please restock the sold-out sizes, especially the smaller ones because I really want one.

Love,
Me

Convexity Breaker Jersey Dress, $295. Available at Net-A-Porter.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: Kimini Stretch-Silk Robe by 3.1 Phillip Lim

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Kimini Stretch-Silk Robe by 3.1 Phillip Lim

There's nothing worse than loungewear/robes that can't give a little when you just want to relax, which is why I have a hunch that this divine 3.1 Phillip Lim piece made of stretchy silk would be so comfy. And when it comes in such a pretty, blushy peach color, how can you not want to try it on? Luxury, comfort, and a little bit of sparkle all in one. And I love sparkle.

Say Hi to Thursday: Key Lime Set by Jenna Leigh

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Key Lime Set by Jenna Leigh
I'M TIRED OF WINTER ALREADY. I just want sweet sunshine and warm weather again. But it's only January, so I know I'll have to be patient. Luckily, Jenna Leigh made this super-cute, super-sunny set for Anthropologie and it'll have to hold us over until we get some real sunshine again.

Sizing note: a small may not fit properly in the bust if you're an A. Larger A's/Small B's might have some luck, but none for smaller than that, sadly. I love long-line bralettes so I was a little sad when it didn't fit right in the cups, though my bank account cried for joy. (Yes, I tried it on—I couldn't help it. It was just sitting there, looking so bright and cheery! Don't judge. You would've done it too.)

Say Hi to Thursday: Fortnight Lingerie Shirley Satin Robe

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Shirley Satin Robe by Fortnight Lingerie
A classic satin robe, in classic black, and for a reasonable price! I feel like most robes I've seen that are similar to this are either really expensive, or look really cheap. This one by Fortnight is neither, and looks  silky-soft to the touch.

Shirley Satin Robe, $75 CAD. Available at Etsy.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: La Fee Verte Silk Chiffon Chemise

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Silk Chiffon Chemise by La Fee Verte
Loungewear that doesn't look like loungewear! I love this chemise for looking like a luxurious tunic top that I would wear out with leggings & boots. A belt could look cute, though I wouldn't want to damage the fabric and I prefer a free-flowing, free-spirited look. Add a pair of statement earrings and I'll wear this to your party!

Silk-chiffon chemise, $200. Available at Silkybottom.

Say Hi to Thursday: Torchlight Romper by The Lake and Stars

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Torchlight Romper by The Lake and Stars
If you've been reading my blog for a bit, then you know how much I adore The Lake and Stars. If you're new to Pretty Little Underthings, then you should know that I really, really love The Lake and Stars. They also pull double-duty designing a diffusion line for Urban Outfitters called Double in Brass which is pretty spectacular too.

So I suppose it's only fitting that my love for the line would make me want to spend all weekend running around in this sheer romper. I just love how the chevrons add a bit of complexity to an otherwise simple cut. The high-cut thighs are super flattering too.

Torchlight romper, $200. Available at Azaleas NYC.

Say Hi to Thursday: A Silky-Soft Boyfriend Tee

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Alternative Apparel Silk Modal Boyfriend Tee
The ever-fickle weather forecast for NYC this weekend says 50's for the daytime, aka perfect layering weather. I love this comfy boyfriend pocket t-shirt for it's slight scoopneck and the super-mega soft blend of 90% modal cotton and 10% silk. The alabaster (left) and fleur (right) colors are just sheer enough to wear your favorite bra underneath and show it off a bit without giving it all away! I'd love this for just lounging at home or for running errands and meeting up with friends during the day (and might even work for nighttime with a stunning bralette!).

Modal Silk Boyfriend Tee, $50. Available online at AlternativeApparel.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: Classic Ballerina Cami by undrest

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Classic Ballerina Cami by undrest
I have a confession: I still really, really love Anthropologie. I used to buy the majority of my wardrobe from there when I worked for Free People (the employee discount is amaaaazing), and then after, scoured sale racks to find amazing deals on pieces I had spotted earlier. And now that my office is back across the street from Chelsea Market, the Anthro there has become a dangerous place for me.

Okay, I'm exaggerating. But you know what I mean. A top secret shopping hint: they have THE best sale rack, though not as large as other locations', but because they have a wider variety of sizes and you can find pieces that are sold out online and in other stores. Like the amazing Irina Cardigan that they magically had in my size and 50% off.

But they also had this cami by undrest on sale too. It's not on the website, and I don't recall it ever being there, but they had plenty of them on the sale rack. Retail price was $68, slashed down to $19.95. Which is fantastic, since undrest has it listed on their website for $80.

I won't pretend I understand the intricacies of retail pricing, I've been out of that game for awhile. All I know is that I have an amazingly soft, comfortable and light new cami to spend all weekend in. And after surveying the sample sales this weekend, if Anthro still has 'em in my size I might just get another one.

P.S. There are matching tap shorts on undrest's website!

Cami, $80 on undrest.com. On sale, $19.95 in-store Anthropologie, West 15th Street & 9th Avenue

Say Hi to Thursday: A Comfy Travel Outfit

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Lounge Lover Sweet Insomnia Cashmere Blend Dress
& Kiki de Montparnasse Cashmere-Blend Ribbed Leggings
This week, my weekend officially starts today after work! I'm taking tomorrow off for a girls' trip to Boston to visit one of my beloved girlfriends at law school. I'm going through my mental closet trying to think of what I should wear for the 4-hour train ride from NYC to Boston and back. I was browsing around and saw these two pieces that look so incredibly comfy and warm, and would be perfect for this weekend. Say hi to Thursday!

What's your favorite travel wear? Something fancy or something lounge-y and comfortable?

Say Hi to Thursday: Simone Perele "Nina" Bottoms!

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.
Whether you're a boyshort type of gal or a thong person, Simone Perele has got you covered (well, slightly cheeky but you know what I mean). The lace detailing on these Nina styles really caught my eye and since it's made of a nylon, cotton and elastin blend, they're sure to fit and to not make you itch! Both styles are come in ivory, black and navy—classic yet sassy. Say Hi to Thursday!

Nina Boyshort, $60; Nina Thong, $45. Available at SimonePerele.com.
