My Lingerie Unicorn

Certainly we all have one, right? The one that got away. The dream lingerie set that appears from time to time on our favorite lingerie websites or boutiques, then vanishes before we can set down our credit cards and claim it once and for all.

This cami from The Lake and Stars is my own personal lingerie unicorn, almost six years running now. Y'all know I've been obsessed with the Royale version with the ribbons (unfortch Journelle's warehouse sale didn't have my size, sob).  So when Allison Beale tweeted at me to let me know that it's back in Journelle (and on Journelle.com), I silently freaked out. Could it be? Could this be the end of my hunt?

Unfortunately my accountant hasn't filed my tax returns yet, and I'm pessimistic that this gorgeous cami will still be in stock when I finally get them. However, it's great to see The Lake and Stars are still bringing back their classic styles each season. Gives me comfort to know that it's not as ephemeral as it once seemed.

The Lake and Stars Classic Camisole, $160. The Lake and Stars Classic Tap Pant, $65. Available at Journelle.com

Happy Breastober!

BRULEE Boudoir Cami & Boudoir Short
Okay, okay fine, I know Breastober is probably not the best way to express that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but pink shit is all over the place right now (even the NFL! Go Eagles!) and I'm sure y'all know that it's all about breast cancer awareness. SO, I'm really excited that BRULEE, one of my favorite lines, is going to be donating 25% of all sales proceeds from this gorgeous blush-colored silk set sold online at Brulee.net to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Their donation period has started already, and will be continuing through October 31, 2011! So go ahead, indulge (and do some good).

Hump Day Pick: Swept Asea Set by Samantha Chang

Hellooooo seafooooam! I saw this set in Anthropologie before I saw it on the site (which might be a first), and I immediately melted. It reminded me of this Only Hearts cami that I love (and wear all the time), so no wonder I was so drawn to it. And yes, I will admit that I have looked at it during the subsequent three trips I made to Anthro. Samantha Chang is a new line that Anthropologie picked up this season, and after seeing this set, I'm looking forward to seeing what other beautiful pieces are to come!

Swept Asea Cami, $88. Boyshorts, $48. Available at Anthropologie.com.

Say Hi to Thursday: A Perfectly Striped Eberjey Set

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Eberjey Vintage Stripes Set

So, it's currently 1:30 am at the time of this writing, and I'll be honest—the temptation to just go to bed was so strong. But I decided to browse through one more lingerie boutique's site and... BAM. This Vintage Stripes set from Eberjey was just BEGGING me to be featured today. And I gave in, because it's so adorable.

I think stripes can be tricky. Not because of that ye olde "horizontal stripes make you look fat" nonsense, but because if they're not the correct proportions, they can look tacky and cheap. But Eberjey did stripes so, so right here. The slight ruffle trims make this just so pretty. And the BOW! Do you see the bow?! It's all just so... honest and casual and perfect for the weekend. That camisole would be perfect with white jeans or shorts too!

By the way, does this set make anyone else long for summertime?

Vintage stripes cami, $56. Vintage stripes knicker, $34. Available at Forty Winks.

Say Hi to Thursday: Say Hi to Spring with ARI DEIN!

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Andalou Camisole and Thong by ARI DEIN
Lust list item #1783: ARI DEIN's Andalou camisole in a new print for spring! This new "Mona Giardino Rosa" floral print is so classic and gosh darn pretty, it's hard to resist. The hook-and-eye closure is a subtly sexy detail (isn't it always?).

While you'll probably keep the thong under wraps, I'd definitely wear this camisole out with jeans (high-waisted and flared or skinnys will work equally as well), pretty platform wedge sandals, throw on a simple cardigan on top. Everyone will think it's just a pretty top, but guess what—TRICKED YOU! Innerwear as outerwear, amen.

Say Hi to Thursday: Boudair Basics Chemise by PJ SALVAGE

Say Hi to Thursday, a special day of the week when there's only one more work day before a glorious weekend awaits. Pretty Little Underthings will showcase a weekend-perfect piece we'd love to wear.

Boudair Basics Chemise by PJ SALVAGE
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when I heard that PJ SALVAGE was coming out with an intimates line, but then I got to preview a few samples and I caved a bit, especially for this nightie. It's so super soft, and even if it wrinkles a bit (as you can see in my photos, oops!) it's got great stretch to keep you comfortable.
To be honest, I don't think stretchy cotton blends and lace trims are anything earth-shatteringly incredible for an intimates line. But this one has some cute details and the lace isn't itchy, and the sheer lace panel under the bust is kinda sexy. They seem to be really confident in how this new fabric blend will add to their brand. All in all, I'm curious to see how these designs will evolve in their next collection.

Chemise, $50.

Innerwear As Outerwear: Vanessa Bruno Crepe de Chine Debardeur

I'm a big fan of wearing underpinnings as outerwear, and tend to do so a lot with camisoles because it's so easy. (Pro tip: I like to occasionally visit the sale racks at Anthropologie to see what kinds of camis they have on sale. I've found a few that work pretty well as sleepwear, but are even cuter as a tank top with a fun bra underneath!) The key is to find a style that's doesn't scream "pajamas!", like this one.
This gorgeous silk Vanessa Bruno camisole is perrrrrrfect for wearing out during the day. Wear it under a blazer or a cardigan with jeans & boots on the weekend, or even with a perfectly-tailored suit for work. Also perfect with high-waisted jeans or a skirt to wear out at night, 'cos a sexy keyhole back with two buttons is too alluring to pass up. I'm sure it's great to just wear at home, but why waste the pretty? Let everyone see it!

Hump Day Pick: Conduit Lace Cami by Wendy Glez

I first saw this cami at Anthropologie when I was searching for a bridal shower gift for my cousin. After feeling how soft it was, I quickly abandoned the pieces I picked up from her registry and decided on this camisole instead. I usually don't like to stray from the registry, especially since there's a reason why the bride-to-be chose particular items, right? But the seemingly cheaply constructed bra and panty sets she had asked for paled in comparison to the delicate lace details and softness of the jersey fabric of this camisole.

Just FYI for my family and close friends, it's on my holiday wishlist. Hint hint. There are matching bottoms too...

Conduit Lace Cami, $68. Bottoms, $38. Available at Anthropologie.com.

Too Cute Camis by Hopeless Lingerie

Australian-based Hopeless Lingerie is one of my favorite Etsy finds. Their made-to-order pieces are so modern, yet hint at inspiration from vintage styles. I loved these two camisoles because they're made with bamboo & spandex jersey: easy to move in, basic, yet chic with perfect details. Expect to see me post more of their other pieces, I'm so in love with their line!
