New Year's Eve Party Outfits, 2013 Edition

It's been awhile, my dears. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Hanukkah and Christmases, and are getting to relax a bit before you all ring in 2014 with a bang! A little bit of vacation + browsing every online shop ever got me eager to a few New Years outfit ideas, seeing as how the ones from 2011 are getting a little bit of attention on Pinterest these past few weeks.

So here we are, a few lovely NYE outfit inspirations for you. xx

A Twist on the Bustier

Or should I say, quite a few twists and pulls on the bustier! I came across this the other day and I just stared at it in awe for awhile. Leather makes it super edgy, but the frills and asymmetrical peplum give it a ladylike vibe. You can dress this one up to make it appropriate for a black-tie affair, yet dress it down for a night out with the girls. And bring on more outfit ideas after the jump!

An Outfit: Taking the Camisole Past the Bedroom

So, I get a lot of criticism (some of it not so direct, but I still get the gist of it nonetheless) for posting items that are expensive and "too luxe" for the average consumer. But isn't part of the fun of having a blog the fact that I can post whatever I want if I think it looks beautiful? I've never said that I've bought every piece on this blog, most of them are wishlist-y items that I admire or see potential in for a cool outfit, like this Kiki de Montparnasse Amour camisole.

Camisoles aren't really my thing for a few reasons, but mostly I just prefer the low-key option o' cotton. But I love this Kiki cami because I think it could make such a solidly cool outfit. It looks pretty plain from the front, but the back of it ties up to expose those super-toned back muscles you've been working on in yoga (I know what you've been up do, don't worry).
So voilà: three different outfit ideas for this camisole, courtesy of my boredom + Polyvore. Oh and also, yesterday marked my 6-year anniversary with NYC, and I'd like to think of these outfits as wish list wardrobes to celebrate my lovely little milestone with the best city in the world. xx

New Year's Eve Party Outfits Inspired by BRULEE

Happy holidays y'all! New Year's Eve is in a few short days and you know I can't resist an opportunity to play around on Polyvore. I used some of my favorite bodysuits from BRULEE Lingerie as a base for some party outfit ideas I love. I love bodysuits as outerwear. Brulee has a few with super-sexy details, whether it's mesh cutouts or lace-up backs, and NYE is the perfect time to rock some of these. For more information about each item, click through on the image to go to Polyvore.

I really love red and purple together. No, I'm not color blind. If you have any taste at all, you'd know that, oddly enough, these two bold colors harmonize really well (even evidenced in the earrings!). Sorry, didn't mean to sound so patronizing. But look at how classy that looks! And when worn with a neutral-yet-classy silver bodysuit, create a perfect party outfit—especially if you want all eyes on you, all night long. And I know you do.

This one's for the downtown girl, or the girl who lives in Midtown East with a downtown spirit and realistically knows that getting a cab on NYE will be impossible so she wants to avoid wearing heels at all costs and keep her legs warm. Yes, this one is probably my personal favorite. The bodysuit looks so demure from the front, but it's all party in the back. You'll want some Low Beams for this one (unless STN is your thing). I love the contrast of the neutral colors with the neon clutch too. Let's be real—throw on your favorite cardigan from your boyfriend's closet and you have the perfect weekend brunch outfit with this one. Versatility—that's my motto. You're welcome.

Bringing real meaning to the phrase "shake ya tailfeather". I avoided sequins in this post on purpose. They'll snag on other people's clothes and after your sequins snag that girl's silk Lanvin dress (let's be serious, it's probably from H&M but still she's mad and is about to dump her vodka & cranberry all over your perfect blowout) the partay will be kind of over. But feathers! They might shed and tickle a little but that's okay. You can pick out feathers from people's drinks—no harm, no fowl. Haha get it? Fowl. But anyway, this mint green + black bodysuit is just asking for a peacock setup. Strut your stuff and show 'em what you're working with.

An Outfit: The New (& More Fun) Bustier.

Bustiers need a lil' love. I think we've all become so accustomed to thinking of these as soon as we hear or read "bustier". But we should start thinking of ones like this Kiki de Montparnasse one, that we can lovingly wear as tops and make really, really fun outfits from! I'd love to wear this outfit this weekend—if only I had that bustier, Hurricane Irene be damned.

See the items on Polyvore.
