I had the pleasure of attending ARI DEIN's Fall/Wintter 2012 presentation for NYFW last night at Cellar Bar (Bryant Park Hotel), and it was pretty amazing. The location couldn't have been more perfect—Cellar Bar has a really dramatic medieval-esque design to it, and combine that with mood lighting and a LIVE opera singer? Well, as my boyfriend so astutely summarized, "It's kind of like that scene in Taken."
Great movie, but definitely no virgin trafficking going on here. Just an incredibly expanded offering of Ari's classic silk pieces. There's new bralette designs, reworked robes and ready-to-wear! Including a bodysuit! There's some new cuts and details for F/W '12 but the feeling of contemporary luxury is still there. It's classic without being stuffy, yet still appeals to all age ranges. It's magic.
P.S. Boyfriend, I want a set of those pajamas. Or the printed top on the second photo, on the second model from the right. Kthxbye.
All photos mine.
Gorgeous! Love how most of the pieces will translate to outerwear! She's my fave :)
ReplyDeleteI like that Ari is showing her fall already, but looks to me like the styling has been done before. I like when designers are at the forefront of trends like this line:

laurie - isn't it beautiful? i can't wait to see it up close!
ReplyDeletestephanie - it's fall/winter 2012 fashion week, so designers should be showing fall now. i love zinke too, and i was at that swim launch party. the styling was super contemporary and trendy, without being cheesy, which was great. but zinke and ari dein are two very different labels with different aesthetics, so i don't think it's fair to compare. glad to know you like trendy designs though! i'll keep it in mind for future posts, i'm sure other readers look for that too.
@Stephanie I work for Hearst and we thought it was perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, elegant and classy. Nothing like I have ever see before. She is the Louboutin's of Lingerie. Every women wants a pair!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone! I just wanted to thank Esther for covering the event. I appreciate Stephanie's comment that the collection doesn't resonate with current trends, but I think that's sort of what's so charming and different about our brand and what I've always aimed for. Everything I design is in homage to the art deco movement and what I call an "Old New York Forgotten Era". Diversity in the boutique lingerie business is what makes Zinke and myself unique, and what makes each season so interesting to cover across the board. I believe it's what has made each of us successful in our very different niches in the intimate apparel industry.
ReplyDeleteLove this collection, specially the cami sets, the camis can be easily worn as outerwear, I can see myself wearing all of them! Great job Ari, much success to you always! :-)
